“A time is coming when men will go mad, and when they see someone who is not mad, they will attack him, saying, ‘You are mad; you are not like us.” – St. Anthony the Great
Throughout 2020 I have periodically found myself imagining the grim tone of Rod Serling’s voice narrating an account of America too preposterous to be believed just one year ago. Taking a drag off his cigarette, he speaks of a world afflicted with mass psychosis:
“Imagine, if you will, a world in which a government quarantines entire populations of healthy people because of a seasonal flu-like virus with a 99.9% survival rate. Then, receiving its marching orders from unelected internationalists, the government consigns millions of small businesses to death by shutting down the economy and imposing restrictions which make turning a profit nearly impossible, all the while assuring the world of its sincere commitment to people’s safety and well-being. The government is applauded in its destruction of the working class by a people so historically-illiterate they actually believe the faster they relinquish their basic human rights, the faster the government will give them back – once it’s ‘safe’ to do so, of course. Madness reigns….in the Twilight Zone”
If just last year someone had said this could be a realistic scenario I’m sure most would’ve dismissed them as stark raving mad and politely suggested they lay off the LSD. Yet, here we are. Somewhere along the line the navigational system to our ‘ship of state’ went seriously haywire and we’ve wound up smack dab in the middle of a Twilight Zone, dispensing with all reasoning faculties along the way.
How else do you explain a world where a billionaire computer software developer and his wife, despite having no medical credentials whatsoever, frequently travel the globe lecturing all and sundry about the pressing need for everybody to be vaccinated against a virus with a 99.9% survival rate? Failure to comply, these purveyors of snake oil inform us, will result in increased lock-downs and ridiculous ‘public health’ mandates (ya know, like blocking our respiratory passages with pieces of paper and cloth just to enter a store or walk around town).
Welcome to bizarro world.
You may have already noticed that in this 2020 dystopia any dissent from the company line is strictly forbidden, regardless of how eminent the dissident may be. To ask, for example, what the ingredients in the vaccine you and your children are being coerced into taking are, or what the possible side-effects of it might be, is to be indelibly stained as a science-hating conspiracy theorist. This includes all doctors, nurses, scientists, virologists, immunologists, etc. who stray from the corporate song sheet. They too will find themselves deplatformed from social media, their videos censored by You Tube, and their books banned by Amazon. Everyone is required to believe that a vaccine created in just 9 months really is 95% effective like they say, even though the regular flu vaccine which has been studied for decades is, at best, only 40% effective. “Makes sense to me, I trust the Science!” exclaims Joe Citizen from behind his paper mask, too obtuse to realize that when science can no longer be questioned it ceases to be science and instead becomes dogma.
Another unusual aspect of this Brave New World is how the government feels emboldened enough to impose holiday restrictions upon the common folk, restrictions which include: A maximum gathering of just 6-10 people (immediate family only), no singing or raising voices, wear a mask when not eating or drinking, and maintain 6′ social distance at all times. It’s a Seussian world in which travel is heavily restricted, many churches and schools are closed, curfews are imposed, and countless small businesses are destroyed daily all in the name of, get this, protecting the people! What a hoot! "Beam me up Scotty, it’s mad as hell down here!"
I could go on and on, but why bother? You get the idea. We’re living this Sci-fi ordeal every damn day. Land of the Free? Ha! Don’t be a clown. We have long since smashed through the looking glass and our shameful descent towards ‘Destination Unknown’ continues apace as we approach Day 300 of ’14 days to flatten the curve.’ If it isn’t obvious to you yet that life will never again return to normal unless/until we take matters into our own hands don’t worry, it will be made painfully apparent soon enough. We’ve opened the door to Big Brother and, quite predictably, he’s intruded into the most sacred spaces of our lives and is ruling over us with an iron rod. There’s no telling what indignities he’ll visit upon us next.
A quick kindergarten lesson for MSM mind-bombed Americans: Give the ruling class an inch and they’ll always take a mile.
I used to think all Americans knew this, that it was somehow encoded into our very DNA. The right to be free of a tyrannical government is, after all, the reason why our ancestors took up arms against the British in the first place. It’s a damning indictment of our crumbling education system that Americans (so-called) need to be reminded that permitting government to micromanage our lives is not only wildly un-American, it’s a disgrace to the memory of our forefathers who froze, starved, fought and died securing our freedom and liberty. Anyone willing to give it all up because they’re afraid of getting sick can never be a true American.
We know there’s a virus out there, but we can’t let it be a reason to deep-six the Constitution and restructure society in a way that is sure to ruin more lives than the virus itself. It’s time we say ‘Enough’ to these crushing restrictions. Business owners shouldn’t be forced to cave to the insane demands of rogue tyrants and watch everything they’ve worked so hard for be destroyed; people shouldn’t be told who they can and can’t gather with or be prohibited in any way from practicing their religion; and dissenting opinions shouldn’t be banned by the Big Tech and media giants. This is why we have a First Amendment. Let’s return things to normal ourselves without waiting for permission just to merely live life. Let ”We have nothing to fear but fear itself” be our motto, and let’s reclaim our lives and sense of human dignity from the clenched talons of our worst oppressors. In other words: Let’s start acting like Americans! Come on, what do we have to lose?
The alternative is to sit back and do nothing while hallucinating that everything is just fine and dandy. But one day down the road we will have to look our children and grandchildren in the eyes and explain to them why we were too scared of getting sick to fight the very system which has enslaved them to a hellish nightmare. The choice is yours. As Nobel Prize winning author, historian and victim of the Soviet Gulags, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, wrote: “And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?… The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If…if…We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation…. We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
Et tu, America?
